Warren Ellis' Talk at the Thought Bubbles conference, 23 SEPT 2018. It took people a long time to notice that most of the famous cave paintings from the period show sequences of events. That they are in fact sequential art. Some of them were found surrounded by so many stone lamps, which would have burned tinder or fat, that it became obvious that the flickering light would have isolated pieces of the sequence in the viewer’s eye as they traversed the image. Transcript of Paul Ford/Rich Ziade interview of Michael Sippey on Product Management — and Pivoting: the product manager’s job is to set that context of, this is the problem that we’re solving, and here’s who we’re solving it for, specifically, and here’s how we want to measure success. Because if you can set that context and you give the context to the team, the team will produce much better results. (more)

After graduating from Yale Law School, Kavanaugh began his career as a law clerk and then a postgraduate fellow working under Judge Ken Starr. After Starr left the D.C. Circuit to take the position as head of the Office of Independent Counsel, Kavanaugh followed him to the OIC and assisted Starr with his various investigations concerning President Bill Clinton. Kavanaugh played a lead role in drafting the Starr Report, which urged the impeachment of President Bill Clinton. After the 2000 U.S. presidential election (in which Kavanaugh worked for the George W. Bush campaign in the Florida recount), Kavanaugh joined the administration as White House Staff Secretary and was a central figure in its efforts to identify and confirm judicial nominees. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brett_Kavanaugh (more)

Starr served as a federal Court of Appeals judge and as solicitor general for George H. W. Bush. He received the most publicity for his tenure as independent counsel while Bill Clinton was U.S. president. Starr was initially appointed to investigate the suicide of deputy White House counsel Vince Foster and the Whitewater real estate investments of Bill Clinton. The three-judge panel charged with administering the Independent Counsel Act later expanded the inquiry into numerous areas including suspected perjury about Bill Clinton's sexual activity with Monica Lewinsky. After several years of investigation, Starr filed the Starr Report, which alleged that Bill Clinton lied about the existence of the affair during a sworn deposition. The allegation led to the impeachment of Bill Clinton and the five-year suspension of Clinton's law license. Starr served as the president and chancellor of Baylor University in Waco, Texas, from June 2010 until May 2016. On May 26, 2016, following an investigation into the mishandling by Starr of several sexual assaults at the school, Baylor University's board of regents announced that Starr's tenure as university president would end on May 31. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Starr
